HCAI Partnership - Next Step to Ending HIV

Health Care Advocates International is on a mission, like many other global organizations, to end HIV by 2030. There are a variety of ways that HCAI strives to do their part in accomplishing this goal, whether it be through grant and advocacy programs or medical care and HIV prevention research.

Most recently, the HCAI team traveled to Paris, France to take part in The Fast-Track Cities 2024 Conference and solidify their partnership with the International Association of Providers of AIDS Care (IAPAC), which also sponsored the conference. Endorsed by the Mayor of Paris, the 10th Anniversary Conference aimed to underscore the impact achieved across the Fast-Track Cities (FTC) network over the past decade in accelerating urban HIV, tuberculosis (TB), and viral hepatitis responses.

Launched on World AIDS Day 2014, the Fast-Track Cities network has grown to include more than 550 cities and municipalities worldwide that are committed to ending the epidemic of HIV by 2030. Here at home in CT, HCAI is doing its part to initiate conversations with leaders in key cities throughout the State to be added to the FTC network.

HCAI’s partnership with IAPAC and FTC is significant as it expands their reach in the fight against the urban HIV epidemic and stigma and discrimination – a major deterrent in prevention and proper care. As part of this partnership, HCAI and IAPAC will host monthly events, both domestically and abroad, in designated Fast-Track Cities. Events will include education opportunities about proactive prevention and facilitate on-site HIV testing all with the mission to help achieve the new UNAIDS 95-95-95 targets.

  • 95% know: 95% of people living with HIV know their HIV status

  • 95% on treatment: 95% of people who know their HIV status are on antiretroviral therapy (ART)

  • 95% virally suppressed: 95% of people on ART have a suppressed viral load

Additionally, HCAI’s Stigma Warrior campaign will support the partnership and events while providing added awareness about the cause by highlighting real-life LGBTQ+ advocates that tell their personal stories and are committed to ending stigma and discrimination.

Grounded in the principle of data transparency, the Fast-Track Cities initiative includes a Global Web Portal housing city-specific dashboards through which cities and municipalities report on their progress in real time against program targets and goals. Visit www.fast-trackcities.org to see the progress that Fast-Track Cities are making in accelerating their local HIV responses. If you are interested in becoming a Fast-Track City or hosting an HIV-testing event, please reach out to Health Care Advocates International at (203) 345-0404.
