As a gay physician who lost a long-term companion to complications of HIV/AIDS, Dr. Gary Blick has a deeply personal understanding of the type of stigma and discrimination his HIV and LGBTQ+ patients experience every day. He made a vow to combat negative attitudes and actions by providing high-quality, accessible, and nonjudgmental care for vulnerable and disenfranchised populations. In 2016, HCAI became an expression of that vow.
In every aspect of his career, Dr. Blick has maintained that all people deserve compassionate care that treats them as the unique individuals they are. Everyone at HCAI believes the same, and it’s why our entire staff wakes up every day to create a healthier, more inclusive community. Since our founding, we have also introduced HIV Advocates and the Zimbabwe AIDS Project (ZAP) as two initiatives that have helped to test and treat marginalized people for HIV.
Come be a part of the HCAI story.
