Stacey Kavanaugh-Schofield (She/Her)

BSN, RN

I am thrilled to join the HCAI team as one of the clinic's three Registered Nurses.  I graduated in 2006 with a Master of Science in Athletic Training and worked both as an Athletic Trainer and Personal Trainer for eleven beautiful years.  Throughout those eleven years, I always knew that nursing would be in my future.  In 2018 I went back to school and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Southern Connecticut State University.  Since graduating in 2018, I have worked as an in-patient nurse at Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale.  It was here that my passion for healthcare and love of nursing started to grow.

My career in nursing has enabled me to understand what it means to truly love a profession.  The satisfaction that one gets from caring for others is beyond measure.   Getting to know my patients and their families has brought me a happiness that I didn’t know could be found in a profession.  I have built friendships and memories that will leave an imprint on me forever.

Joining HCAI allows me to take that next step in my career where my goal is to create inclusion for the LGBTQ+ community in all aspects of healthcare and a place where patients feel comfortable, confident, and cared for the moment they step through the door.  I am excited to build new relationships with all of the HCAI patients and be a resource for them as well as their families.

Outside of work, my wife and I have two young children–a boy and a girl–and I am excited to raise them in a world of acceptance where pride and love can be their guiding light.  We enjoy being outside, playing sports and learning about nature, but above all we just really love making memories with all of our family and the friends we have met along the way.
